Street Food Thursday was the first major organized street food event in Berlin and it is still one of the most exciting. It takes place (you guessed) every Thursday inside an old market hall in the shabby cool district of Kreuzberg. The market hall has an uber cool vibe and the event is very well organized.
The food diversity on offer can be overwhelming so do not sweat too much. Pick one that you like and try it. It is a good idea to share the food with friends so you are able to try a few different options. Among the most popular stalls are: Käsespätzle, Pulled Pork Sandwich, Ramen Burger, Arepas and Taiwanese pork buns. The italian bread from Sironi is perfect and if you can take some home, do it. But do not restrict yourself, be adventurous and follow your instincts!
Lately it has been getting too crowded very quickly so try and make it before 6 PM if you want to be able to explore the stands and actually see all the food that is on offer. Make sure to sit down (if you can), relax and enjoy the movement. Soak up the atmosphere and energy that happens when hungry and social street food lovers congregate! Important tip: the event goes on until 10PM officially but food usually runs out by 9PM. It is that popular!
What we like to order at Street Food Thursday: EVERYTHING…just kidding….kinda. Mr. Susan’s Congee or Big Stuff Smoked Barbecue’s pulled pork Sandwich +Beer from Heidenpeters (we prefer the Pale Ale, but all of them are delicious)Beer from Heidenpeters (we prefer the Pale Ale, but all of them are delicious)
