Once a month (last Saturday of each month) the iconic SO36 club in Kreuzberg is invaded by a super fun and peculiar “oriental” gay party called Gayhane. By “oriental” we mean Arabs and Turks of all origins and their admirers. The crowd is super diverse, though. So do not be intimidated if you are neither. This unique party has become somewhat of a tradition in the past 15 years and you are guaranteed to enjoy it.
The club is located along Oranientrasse, a super bohemian street in Kreuzberg. It is a great area to explore at night. A good plan usually involves a late dinner (go for Turkish food!), then drinks and a night club to follow.
Only “oriental” pop songs are played during the whole night and at some point there is a belly dance show by a male dancer. Isn’t this just super camp and sensational? We thought so.

The atmosphere is super friendly and relaxed. The party picks up after 1AM (as most parties in Berlin do). It could also be a good idea to get there earlier so you can get a sense for the space and observe the early birds on the dance floor. While you get warmed up (a.k.a. get some beer/drinks). Girls are also welcome to this party. Stay as long as you want. It will be bustling into the early hours of Sunday.
