VABRIQUE is a lunch hotspot located in a very atmospheric “former factory” inner courtyard in Kreuzberg. Just take the subway (U-8) to Moritzplatz and walk for 5 minutes to get here. Once you get to the courtyard you won’t resist but explore a bit before going in. It is so atmospheric! And it has some of the coolest office spaces in town. We particularly love Atheist Shoes! (Free advertising for them. We just LOVE their concept).
Anyway. Vabrique is located on the ground floor and you can’t miss it. As it should be, the place has a laid back and cool industrial design with quite striking elements. We particularly like the light fixtures! You can watch the kitchen action through a see through wall. We always like those.
Overall it is a very airy and pleasant atmosphere. We came here during the winter, so the courtyard was not in use. However we can imagine a sensational lunch hour taking place outside. There are quite a few communal tables in the courtyard. Another reason to go back.
The menu is to the point and somewhat limited. No wonder. The kitchen focuses on super fresh and seasonal ingredients. They have two specials for every day of the week (one of them vegetarian). That’s the menu backbone. The food is beautiful! Balanced subtle flavours. We had stuffed cabbage leaves (good), leek in Dijon mustard (very good) and delicious “Schupfnudeln” (thick rolled noodles).
Vabrique also serves sandwiches, coffee, cake and pastries. They all look good. Must try them some other time. After lunch we ordered a flat white (surprise!) and it was frothy and deliciously well balanced. Vabrique is definitely going to be on our permanent places to go for lunch!
Make sure to explore some of the graffiti art around the building.
