Gasthaus Figl – Delicious Pizza

What a casual and delicious place GASTHAUS FIGL is! Not only do they serve some of the best pizzas in Berlin, but they also do it with their own special flair. See… Gasthaus Figl is not your ordinary Italian joint…it is actually a fusion of Italian and German cuisine elements. Imagine a fun pizza joint in Tyrol. That’s the look and feel (and taste) of Figl’s food.Figl Gasthaus

Located in a more “local” corner of Kreuzberg, this place delivers coziness and a true neighborhood experience. The best way to get here is to take the subway to either Schönleinstrasse (U8) or Südstern (U7) and walk for 5 minutes or so to Urbanstrasse 47.

The décor is simple, rustic and cozy. Don’t miss the beautiful green tiled fireplace in one of the corners. You may also want to try their terrace during the warmer months. I have to say, though, that there is something extra inviting about this place. The service is super friendly and efficient. Consistently.Figl Gasthaus

As always, if you can, come here in a big group and order as much from the menu as you can. The salads are great. However, the pizzas are simply a delight. We have probably tried ten different types here already and all of them were delicious. The blood sausage pizza is a winner, though! Yes, the freaking blood sausage pizza!  We like to have our pizza here with a cold beer from the tap. Always perfect! What their video below for some inspiration!

If you come to Figl during the day, make sure to explore the area around Hasenheide park or walk along Bergmannstrasse (one of our favourite streets in Berlin). If you are on a bike, make sure to watch the sunset at Tempelhofer Park and enjoy one of the true local/Berlin experiences these days.
