We were super excited to hear that the former location of Cookies Club in Mitte (a beloved Berlin Institution that closed its doors recently) would be transformed into a super cool new restaurant. Crackers is the latest venture of successful restauranteur Heinz Gindullis, who has given us yummy options as Chipps and Cookies Cream (vegetarian). And boy, is it beautiful?! We had the pleasure of enjoying Crackers on a Sunday night (quieter) and we have to say that we were super impressed.
Watch out…it can be tricky to find it though (which we love). Just next door to the Ampelmann Store on Friedrichstrasse there is a small and somewhat hidden iron gate with a small sign that says “Crackers”. Get in and walk through a very long corridor and you’ll see a bright yellow sign. You are there. Walk up a flight of stairs and the first thing you’ll see is the super cool bright blue tiled kitchen.
Walk through it and you’ll get to the extremely beautiful and well designed main room. We are particularly fans of the color scheme and the light fixtures!
The menu is quite diverse, fresh and quite modern. Our table had quite a variety of dishes. Most of them were simply delicious. For appetizers the hits seemed to be the Artichoke, the corn and chili soup and the ox soup (wow!). As far as main dishes go, the slow cooked lamb dish was definitely the hit! The desserts were tasty, but we must say that the savory menu shines brighter!
DJs play at Crackers on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, marrying the restaurant and club concepts. We must try it again during the DJ nights. Needless to say, reservations are highly recommended.
What we like to order at Crackers: Corn Chili Soup + Lamb
