Cantina Tausend

Cantina Tausend is located in the back side of Bar Tausend. This place has so many layers of coolness that it is hard to describe it. One must undoubtedly pay a visit to understand how special this place is. Let’s start with location. Cantina is one of those specially hidden places.

Tucked under the train tracks on the other side of the river from Friedrichstrasse Station, it is almost impossible to spot the entrance if you are not fully paying attention. Walk along Schiffbauerdamm, once you’re under the train tracks and you see two giant eyes, you’ll know you are there. Closer to the left “eye” you’ll find a door. Ring the bell. The coolest looking host (a Daniel Day Lewis look-a-like) will invite you in. Reservations are a must!

Walk through super cool Bar to get to the Cantina Tausend. The design is extremely tasteful and slick. The kitchen is right there! Among the tables. But don’t worry, they have an amazing exhaust system (it also looks amazing)! The waiting staff is super cool looking and attentive.

The menu is a super tasty fusion of Iberian, South American and Japanese influences. You can choose to spend the evening eating “tapas” style or gavin a conventional dinner. Do not miss the Eggplant Ponzu and Gambas al Ajillo! We also love the super delicate Miso Cod.

Cantina Tausend usually has two seatings per evening. You either reserve from 7:30PM to 9:30PM or from 9:30PM onwards. Unless it is not completely booked (which is rare), in which case they will let you stay for as long as you want. Even if you only have a 2 hour slot, that’s not a problem. Once you are done with dinner, just move to the bar and keep enjoying the evening.

What we like to order at Cantina Tausend: Eggplant Ponzu + Miso Cod
