We must confess. We usually go out for dinner before we hit a bar. An “Aperitivo” before starting the night was not something we would normally go for. Well… BAR MILANO, APERITIVO ITALIANO is absolutely making us revisit that habit. It is actually kind of addictive…this Milanese habit.

This Aperitivo Jewel of a bar is located very near Rosenthaler Platz, along the cool Brunnenstrasse. A perfect location. There are quite a few restaurants to go to after you have had your Spritz, Negroni or Prosecco. Bar Milano was designed by architect Thilo Reich who brought in clean, yet cozy and elegant Italian design elements. We are particularly in love with the massive Italian marble counter. The seating arrangement is beautiful and offers enough space. During the warmer months, there are a couple of tables outside. Take your pick. This place attracts a stylish, yet casual crowd.  This makes hanging out here even more pleasant and milano aperitivo italiano

As a proper Aperitivo Bar, the menu covers the classic Spritzes and Negronis, wine, prosecco, some house specialty drinks, panini, cold cuts, cheeses and salads. Our table ordered Spritzes, Prosecco and the crown jewel, the Negroni Sbagliato (made with Prosecco, instead of Gin, therefore more refreshing). They were all perfect!bar milano aperitivo italiano

If you decide to order the big glass of Aperitivo, know that it is HUGE. The normal drink size is quite enough. And you don’t feel like a dork holding a gigantic glass. I did. : ) Our table also ordered two mixed platters of salad, cheese and cold meat cuts. They were equally satisfying and superbly made. On a previous trip here, I had a classic Panini that was also super tasty!bar milano aperitivo italiano

Naturally, Bar Milano gets busier after 6 PM and before 10 PM, so plan accordingly. Hit one of the many Torstrasse restaurants afterwards, or go bar hopping. It will be a super fun night, we promise.
