There’s nothing Nano (other than the name) about this super hardcore Third Wave Coffee Bar in one of our favourite streets of Kreuzberg. The coffee is super good, the place is actually quite spacious and airy and the barista is a super tall guy! : ) There is, however, a new trend in coffee roasting, the nano roasters. That might be what these guys are up to. Still needs further investigation.

Get to Kottbusser Tor Station (either U8 or U1) and cross the gigantic yellow building full of satellite dishes pointing to Istambul (Love it!). Go under the archways and cross through to Dresdener Strasse. Nano Coffee Bar is about 100 meters away on your right. On the other side of the street from Cevicheria, one of our favourite Peruvian places in town.
Nano Coffee Bar’s design is somewhat minimalist and, of course, has some industrial elements to it (iron, dark wood, you get the picture). The sitting arrangement is somewhat communal. If you get there and it is full, just grab your coffee and sit on the sidewalk. You are in Kreuzberg!!
The coffee is simply top notch. They serve filtered as well as espresso drinks. We, of course, went for our usual flat white and it was simply delicious. The pastry selection (looked beautiful and made in house) is somewhat limited. But let’s face it, this is a place for coffee lovers!
Nano Caffee Bar also sells great coffee to take home, books, filters, etc.
Make sure to explore the Oranienstrasse and Mariannenplatz areas after or before your stop at Nano! Get into Kunsthaus Bethanien (an old hospital turned into art space) and find out what show is on.
