Whenever we spend sometime exploring the street art/alternative scene around Revalerstrasse (Friedrichshain neighborhood), we end up stopping for coffee at SILO COFFEE. This coffee bar is part of the Third Wave Coffee scene that has taken over Berlin in the past couple of years. Which in a nutshell means that they serve their coffee not only with the maximum quality at heart, but also consider coffee as artisanal food stuff, much like wine. Coffee is certainly no commodity here.
SILO COFFEE is located right off Boxhagener Platz, a hot spot for bohemians and hipsters. We particularly love the vibe of the area. Super laid back and artsy. Such vibe permeates the coffee shop vibe and design. Somewhat industrial, somewhat rustic but definitely not “staged”.
Beyond the amazing coffee served here, they also have pastries, cookies and cakes on offer. Yummy breakfast sandwiches can also be found here. Lately they have ventured into serving somewhat more complex dishes, but all of them carry the mark of what made this place so strong. Go for the avocado toast. It is simply perfect.
Explore the area around Boxhagener Platz with the cool quirky vintage stores. If you are here on Sundays, don’t miss the fleamarket on the square. Also walk towards Revalerstrasse and explore the wonderful world of street art inside Revaler 99. Don’t miss Urban Spree Gallery.
