After a long and cold winter, we LOVE it when spring and summer arrive. As some cynic Germans say, either the open air season arrived too late, or it’s too short. Therefore, nothing better to do than enjoy the warm days and nights outdoors. And here in Berlin we do it better than most!
As if there were not enough party options in Berlin, in late spring and summer, some of the venues give access to their outdoor area, while others start their outdoor season. So let’s celebrate the end of the coatcheck lines and time wasting and enjoy some of the best Berlin open air party locations. Try and hit at least one party (day or night) at each of these locations this summer! We will!
In no particular order:
Else is open only during the high-season. This very cool venue can be considered as the outdoor annex of Salon – zur wilde Renate club. It’s located under the Elsebrücke, a bridge over the Spree, from where you can enjoy one of the most iconic sunset views of Berlin. We love watching their hanging disco-balls shining during a sunny and warm day.
Find IPSE around the Arena Berlin complex, across the “water lock” from Club der Visionäre and on the same side as the Freischwimmer restaurant. You might have heard of its remarkable outdoor chandelier. The club is open only on weekends and bank holidays. IPSE is one of our favorite spots to chill by the Spree drinking a beer and listening to good music. Plus there are quite a few amazing venues around here, like Birgit & Bier, Burg Schnabel, Chalet, Badeschiff and more. Perfect for club hopping, if that’s your thing.
This unique place, self-titled “cultural rooftop garden”, on the rooftop of the Neukölln Arcaden shopping mall, has one of the loveliest views over Berlin’s skyline. Add to that funky community gardens and fun parties. The small indoor area hosts DJs, leaving the “open air” for seasonal markets and film screenings. Get here early and stay late!
Next to the Ostbanhof, by the Spree river, this African influenced spot is a beach club with a bar, live concerts and DJ sets that gathers non-techno-aficionados. Most party goers here are interested in reggae (and its ramifications) and hip-hop. The space also offers some interesting Caribbean and African food trucks/stalls and drink options. It’s the perfect reward after a beach volleyball match!
This culture centre is a truly “alternative Berlin” experience. It is located where pioneer Bar25 and its legendaries open air parties once took place. The venue recently received a “face lift” but kept its original vibes. It contrasts perfectly with the commercial area around the Spree known as MediaSpree and hosts an art gallery, bar, a theater, urban garden, restaurant and – of course! – a nightclub, the famous Kater Blau.
Other nightclubs, like Griessmühle, Sisyphos, Prince Charles, Kosmonaut, ://about blank , Polygon and Badeschiff/Arena offer gardens or outdoor areas and are great places to go party in a clear sunny day or during a full-moon-night! Check them out as well.
