Located in a quite glamorous ruin (Bötzow Brauerei – old brewery complex), Le Croco Bleu bar is the definition of chic cool. We always seem to end up here after we have dinner at La Soupe Populaire (located in the same building/ruin complex).
The idea for the name came from a quite interesting story. During the Second World War the local Zoo (as all of Berlin) was bombarded. Apparently, two Crocodiles were brought into the Börzow Brauerei so they could live there during the war and be safe. Whether this is a true story or not we don’t know…but it is surely a great tale and it does give the place a special “je ne sais quoi”.
The decor is beautiful and atmospheric with pops of turquoise accents. The crowd is usually 30+ and tends to be dressy, cool, interesting looking. No one will judge you, it is Berlin afterwall. So feel free to make an appearance even if you feel you do not fit in the description above.
Make sure you make reservations as Le Croco Bleu Bar can get quite busy at times. It is open from Thursday to Sunday only.
**This is a smoking friendly bar (unfortunately this is not uncommon here in Berlin). Some of the coolest bars will allow smoking inside. Our tip: relax and enjoy it. If it is something that bothers you too much, then do not go there. We have also plenty of non smoking options for you. Read on.
What we like to order at Le Croco Bleu Bar: Frog (Ketel one Vodka, Ile Four Limited Edition Sake, cucumber, Dryed Ginger, Fever Tree Ginger Beer).
