It is surprising that a city like Berlin has taken long to get into the craft beer bandwagon. But let me tell you, it is catching up quickly! Practically every month there are new craft beer bars opening in town.
In a relatively quiet corner in the otherwise super “party neighborhood” of Kreuzberg, more precisely Wrangelkietz, you will find one of our favorite craft beer bars in the city. Hopfenreich is located in a cool renovated “Ecke Kneipe” (Corner bar) and offers 14 rotating beer options on tap (built into antique machinery) showcasing local craft brewers as well as craft bees from all over the globe. This bar opened in early 2014 and already has loyal followers. The service is super friendly. Ask them for suggestions!
Just hop on U1 Subway line and get off at Schlesiches Tor. Take Oppelner Strasse and you will immediately see (on your right) an amazing graffiti mural from the Brazilian based graffiti superstar duo “Os Gêmeos” (we are HUGE fans!). Make a right on Wrangelstrasse and walk a block. You will find Hopfenreich (or Hop Heaven as we like to call it) on the left side of the street on the corner of Wrangelstrasse and Sorauer Strasse. If you are a craft beer fan, a fun night is guaranteed!
Make sure to take your time and appreciate the vintage/beer industrial design of the bar area!
What we like to order at this craft beer bar: So many craft beer options on tap and selection varies constantly, but we are usually partial to the Pale Ale options! It is always a good idea to try beer from local brewers.
