Brewbaker is a true craft beer gem. Especially if you are looking to connect to the local craft beer scene. Owner and Berlin craft beer hero Michael Schwab was one of the first to realize the potential of the craft beer market locally and has been helping develop it further ever since.
This very atmospheric place is located in the up and coming neighborhood of Moabit, inside a “yet-to-be-invaded-by-hipsters” red-brick market hall (as of the time we write this piece). This neighborhood is convenient and centrally located off the North rim of the Tiergarten park. Once you get in the hall, look for the coolest little corner right by Pignut (American Barbecue Restaurant). There’s a bar area and also a super cute and comfortable sitting area in the back.
There is usually a pale ale on tap as well as their very own pilsner. Also expect seasonal variations like pumpkin lager in fall or ginger beer in winter. They also offer frequent brewing courses and beer seminars and hope to inspire the next generation of brewers.
The crowd is pretty mixed and casual. Even though the average age may be at times above what you are used to, do not let this deter you from enjoying and soaking up the atmosphere and soul of this place. And we cannot deny that it makes for a perfect outing when you make a pit stop at Pignut for food before spending hours enjoying a good beer at Brewbaker.
