That’s right. We feel it is time for us to share our TOP BERLIN TRAVEL WEBSITES. Since we moved here, we have constantly consumed content published by these awesome folks. That has helped us in our initial explorations of the city. They have also inspired us to try and find out own point of view and voice.
We continue to follow them, with a different perspective. We now have them as benchmarks of excellence in content. We also look up to them and hope we can all together provide you, the reader/follower, with hot tips to enhance your Berlin experience. Whether you live here or happen to be visiting this incredible place.
The list showcases the Berlin blogs & websites that we actually follow on a regular basis. There are quite a few other great content providers out there (see end of this post) . This is just a short list of our favourites. The “essential” ones, let’s say. See if you agree. In each snippet, we let you know what we like most about them.
Our most valuable tip to you: find the ones that you identify with the most. And follow them. Enjoy their company! Build your itinerary/agenda/plans based on a few websites, not just one.
BERLIN BLOGS & WEBSITES TOP PICKS
A “relative newcomer” in the website/blog scene in Berlin, Kreuzberg’d offers something different. We feel this website is a labor of curiosity and on point research. They offer a fresh perspective (our opinion) on various themes (local history, architecture, lifestyle, etc). We particularly love the way they present the ideas. We always look forward to their next post. “Did you know that about Berlin?” and “You are here” sessions always bring something interesting and new to our reading sessions. Mind you, their content is probably more relevant for those of us who are truly interested in knowing more about this city we love. Not superficial. We are fans. They also offer a tour of Kreuzberg, if you are interested.
Berlin Food Stories is always a great place to start when looking for inspiration and ideas about where/what to eat in the city. The website does not confuse you with millions of places to go. Instead, they focus on the ones they truly believe are the best. Their honest opinion with a “no-bulshit” style, that’s their promise. Yet, they do it with respect to the restaurants they visit. If you are looking for a quick reference, just go for their top picks. They have great tips! Even though we don’t always agree with them, we feel you will be guaranteed to have a great dining experience by following their lead.
These guys have, from the beginning, been one of our most important references for parties around town. We love their sense of humour and camp pictures. I Heart Berlin has also served as a great reference for some of the city’s non mainstream art exhibits and events. If you are looking to hit some of the city’s coolest parties and events we advise you to always check their events page.
A different perspective and pace about exploring the city. As the name indicates, this website invites visitors “to resists fast travel”. Stop, look, feel, enjoy the place you are exploring. That is how we like to travel. We particularly love the images and tips of unusual places to visit. Slow Stravel Berlin invites contributors/city experts on varied subjects to write on their site. That helps keep their content fresh and interesting. They publish books, offer workshops and tours as well. We also love that they have a project called “Walking Berlin”. We get to follow them as they walk 9,950 streets around town.
We are also fans of the websites/blogs below. Check them out as well and build your own shortlist!
