That’s right. This is one of the places where the local gay “neighborhoody bear scene” happens. If you would like to get a taste for some of the local bears and friends, we advise you to try this place. It is located on super gay Fuggerstrasse in the heart of Schöneberg (the traditionally gay neighborhood in Berlin. The city is all gay, though). This gay bear bar is quite nice with a brick walled interior and nice bar design. The dark room/basement area is a lot more raw (as it should be).
Prinzknecht is more popular with a slightly older clientele, but that’s not to say you won’t find all kinds of bears and bear lovers here. This is a quintessential “Männerkneipe” (Men’s men kinda bar) with a slightly provincial “je ne sais quoi”. Often you will find a mix of blue collar, leather friendly and bear groupies.
It is ideal for an early evening (pre clubbing) start with a 2-for-1 drinks deal for two hours on Wednesdays. During these two special hours, it attracts a younger and thirstier crowd (as you can imagine). During the summer months the outside area gets quite busy and animated as well. During festivals like Folsom Europe it gets downright impossible to walk around. It is still fun though! They often put out “theme parties” that runs the gamut (Abba, Halloween, Eurovision, you name it).
Since you are in the area, try visiting Woof Berlin only a few door down. Although action here happens a little later and it has a different vibe. More on that on another post, though.
What we like to do at this gay bear bar: Drink beer, chat and cruise. Really? Yes, we’re flirts!
