PIRI’S CHICKEN BURGER JOINT definitely offers something most burger joints in Berlin seem to lack. Spice! And we love that. Holy chili, this burger joint puts out some of the most spicy and yummy burgers in town. They have even won the “Best Burger” prize at Burgers & Hip Hop back in 2014.
Piri’s is located around Görlitzer Park, where lots of drug commerce action happens in Kreuzberg. That said, it is relatively safe to walk around. During the weekends there are a lot of Turkish families barbecuing around the park as well. To get here just take the U-Bahn (U1) to Görlitzer Bahnhof and walk for about 5 minutes along Wiener Strasse.
Piri’s initially looks like any normal burger joint you would find on this side of town. However, once you get in there and take a look around you will notice some love devoted to urban/street art. By various artists. We love the wall art as well as the cool details on the bathroom tiles resembling robots.
In spite of the name, Piri’s offers beef and veggie burger options, as well as a couple of interesting signature chicken burgers. Naturally, the signature burger is inspired by the traditional and spicy Portuguese dish “Piri Piri Chicken”.
If you like it spicy go straight for the “Rockness Monstah”. And if you are extra hungry, go for the “Rhino” burger. It is huge! And Yummy! However, we have tried a few options and all of them were super good. The fries are also delicious. During the warmer months, make sure to sit outside and observe the diverse and fun crowd go by.
Piri’s is also strategically located in an area full of bars and nightlife. We find that having Piri’s burgers after a wild night out (instead of brunching) is a very satisfying experience.
