Mehmed Augün is the founder of this Berlin institution. And it is said that he was the one to invent the Berlin-style doner kebab. We know that the Hasir family owns half of Berlin’s Turkish restaurants and we also know that many people give them a hard time and frown upon their dominance. We don’t care about that. We care about the food at HASIR TURKISH RESTAURANT. And oh boy, can they serve up a delicious turkish meal.
There are quite a few Hasir(s) around town, but our favorite and with the more authentic atmosphere (we feel) is the one in Kreuzberg, the traditional Turkish neighborhood turned into party central. But if you are at different parts of town and spot a sign saying “Hasir”, get in, their food is consistently good throughout the city.
The menu is quite extensive and can be overwhelming if you are not familiar with Turkish dishes. We always go for the simple Adana Kebap or the version with yogurt (Yogurtlu Adana). Also delicious is the Iskender Kebab. Do not leave the place without trying the Kunefe for dessert. It is simply delicious.
The ambiance at HASIR TURKISH RESTAURANT very hectic but friendly with tons of people coming and going. This place is open 24 hours so it is a perfect place to stop for a snack after a night out. We get really hungry after our outings and often default to Hasir if we are in the area.
What we like to order at HASIR TURKISH RESTAURANT: The simple and delicious Adana Kebap + Kunefe for dessert
