Pignut is one of those places that have not been widely talked about (yet) and we secretly hope they are kept a secret . And yet, we write about it, because something so good must be shared. Pignut American style barbecue is located inside Arminius Markthalle (market hall) in the up and coming neighborhood of Moabit. The market hall itself is a gem that still has not been invaded by hipsters and tourists…fingers crossed it never happens!
These days, the market hall patrons are usually locals (of a certain age) and curious souls looking for undiscovered Berlin treasures. Make sure to check out the market hall and especially Pignut. They serve one of the best barbecue style food in town. Their ribs are to die for and the side dishes are simply sublime. Do not miss the beans….oh the beans…we could eat those daily! They are crazy good! They also offer a couple of great craft beer options on tap.
Pignut American Style Barbecue is located in a somewhat quieter area of the market hall but you cannot miss it. It has so much character and you can tell that it was built with a lot of care. The place has a gigantic round tin cover and transports you right away to barbecue joints in the American deep south.
The staff is super friendly and will take the time to walk you through the options and chat afterwards about it.
If you feel like it, there is a great local craft beer brewer at a stand right next to Pignut. They are called Brewbaker. We usually hang out there after we have stuffed our faces at Pignut!
