Milch Halle Café is one of our most treasured coffee shops in Berlin Mitte. Well, it does help that it is quite close to home and half a block away from where we get our haircut. But seriously, there is something about it. It is one of those places that combine great coffee and snacks, killer location, great service, super chill atmosphere (the owners’ sweet dog called Emma is a regular chilling on the floor) and comfy and welcoming sitting arrangement.
Let’s break it down. They source their coffee from Berlin’s own Bonanza Coffee Roasters (love!). Their coffee drinks (although not as sophisticated as the top Berlin Third Wave Coffee Bars) are always prepared with care and have always been delicious. Just check out the perfect orange swirl on that flat white! The sandwich/panini selection is very good and their cakes are yummy.
Milch Halle is located on the corner of Augustrasse and Joachimstrasse, definitely one of our favourite streets in the whole city. To get here, take the U-Bahn to Rosenthalerplatz Station and walk 5 minutes. There are probably more art galleries per inhabitant in this area than anywhere in the city. And a couple of our favourite contemporary art spaces are located here, too. Precious little shops (somewhat pricey) and restaurants also call this area home.
The crowd is cool and trendy, with the occasional “in-the-know” tourist walking in. There is free wi-fi, so some of us (hmmm…hmmm) will hang out here and do work sometimes. Don’t mind us. We are probably sitting at the sleek black communal table. Either find a sit on the comfy back sofa or sit outside and soak up the sun.
After or before you come here, make sure to walk along Augustrasse. Tip 1: Get into every gallery you can (they can be surprisingly interesting and HUGE inside). Tip 2: If you see a courtyard, get in and explore!
