Berlin gay cruising - the complete guide - AWESOME BERLIN

Berlin gay cruising – the complete guide

You find yourself in Berlin. You are horny and you want to live an adventure. Find out where to go with our Berlin gay cruising guide!

Meeting people in real life is still a thing in Berlin, even in these “app oriented” dating times we live in. If you choose to meet real Berliners in the virtual world, forget about Grindr and Scruff. Locals use the German app/website Planet Romeo. Get ready to share your “blue pages” profile, as Germans call it, when sexting in other apps.

There is a plethora of Berlin gay cruising spots: both outdoors and indoors. To help you navigate through them, we selected Berlin’s most interesting gay cruising spots, divided by neighborhoods:

Tiergarten

The eponymous park in the heart of the city is one of the biggest green areas of Berlin and since the Weimar Republic, with its libertarian 1920s, it’s been a space for gay cruising. The main cruising area is called Tutenwiese, or “faggot meadow”, on the south side of the Victory Column and on the west side of the Hofjäggerallee, full of FKK (the German naturism) enthusiasts in the summer. There are also two – let’s say, “dirtier” –  areas: one around the small lake towards the Strasse des 17. Juni and the other one, on the other side of the avenue, behind the Hansaviertel’s modernist buildings. Explore these last two “off the beaten path” areas at your own risk! Of course, you can also try “pulling a George-Michael” in one of the toilets, in the less cruisy big section of the park, towards the Brandenburg Gate. berlin gay cruising guide

Schöneberg

The surrounding areas of Nollendorfplatz, particularly along Motzstrasse and Fuggerstrasse, form the historical and old-school gay area of the German capital. There are quite a few authentic sex clubs, like CDL, New Action, Mutschmann’s, Connection Club, The Jaxx, Tom’s Bar, Scheune and many, many others. Also, almost all of the bars have darkrooms on their basement.

From the street level (and especially during the day), this area almost looks boring and somewhat lifeless. When the night falls things tend to get quite busy. If you are just walking along the streets, you are probably not going to see much action. Don’t be shy. Get into the bars and clubs!  Prinzknecht, Hafen and Woof are some of the other more tame options.

A little off, on the south side of the district, Böse Buben is a sex club famous for its BDSM parties.

Kreuzberg

If we think about German clichés, the “passion for sauna” should certainly be featured among the top 10.  If you are looking to live that cliché in a “men only” environment, Der Boiler is probably your best bet. It looks like a gay spa. Der Boiler is very clean and slightly pricey: a single entry costs 21 euros and it’s valid for 24 hours. But it might be worth every second, if you play your cards right!

Another Kreuzberg cruising option is Club Culture Houze. It is located in front of Görlitzer park and is a very open-minded sex club that hosts some thematic gays parties.

**Steam Works, in Schöneberg, is currently closed, due to a fire earlier this year.

Neukölln

Ficken 3000 is a legendary bar/sex club, with some “hipster parties”, like the Italian  inspired Coito on Fridays or Icky on Sundays.

The Hasenheide park (Rabbit warren, got it?) also offers a FKK area, with some action behind the bushes. Find it on the southwestern quarter of the park, next to the Columbiadamm.

Friedrichshain

Lab.oratory is certainly the Berliner hotspot. As we already said here at Awesome Berlin, if you can only have one gay experience in Berlin, start by the very popular  – and crowded – Friday Fuck 2-4-1, with two drinks for the price of one all night long!

Grosse Freiheit 114 is a gay pub, with a darkroom, and caters to a more mature crowd  (40-50 year-old men). Come here for 80’s hits.

Outdoorsy types will find Volkspark Friedrichshain‘s cruising area quite interesting. For some action, go behind the  Spanienkämpfer-Denkmal (the memorial for the victims of the Spanish Civil War), on Friedenstrasse.berlin gay cruising guide

Prenzlauer Berg

The “days of glory” of Prenzlauer Berg’s gay scene are gone. However, there are still some gay cruising bars and sex clubs in this pretty and yuppie Berlin neighborhood. Greifbar, Duplexx, Stahlrohr 2.0 and XXL are some of the options.

For “open-air activities”, the Ernst-Thälmann park has a small cruising area, alongside the S-Bahn rail-tracks.

Wedding/Gesundbrunnen

Moritz Bar hosts a gay night on Mondays. Schillerpark and Humboldthain park have  cruising spots for those who want to have fun with closeted middle-eastern men. I know, it’s a fetish here in Berlin!

Grunewald/Wansee

Teufelssee: The “Devil’s Lake” is a well-known lake for FKK lovers and has a cruising section in the forest, between the lake and the parking lot.

Strandbad Wannsee: this “lido”, one of the most beautiful of Europe, has ten percent of its area labeled “FKK zone”, perfect to make – not only – eye contact. Open from May until September. In hot and crowded days, the toilets turn into a real cruising area!Berlin gay cruising guide

BONUS TIPS:

If you are a sporty spice, you can also try your chances at some gym clubs, renowned for their gay goers. We recommend Fit X (next to Alexanderplatz), John Reed Fitness Music Club (Backfabrik and Kottbuserdamm) and Fitness First (Gendarmenmarkt and Schönhauser Allee). There is also action in the public swimming pools, like Stadtbad Mitte, Stadtbad Neukölln and at the Europasportpark complex, close to the S-Bahn station on Landsberger Allee.

On his seven-year birthday, he won a terrestrial globe and shortly afterwards he knew by heart the name of (almost) all the capitals of the world’s countries. He lived in Paris for four years and since 2014 has been calling Berlin home. Really bad in sense of direction, he always ends up getting lost in the cross streets and finding that cafe or shop that you will only see indicated in the edition of a travel guide the next year. 1. What about the Gay Saunas on Kudamm? Are those bath houses still open or are close.???

    • We are not aware of any bath houses/saunas in operation on Kudamm. Did you mean Kurfürstenstrasse? If you mean SteamWorks on Kurfürstenstrasse, they had a fire there this year and I believe they are not operating currently.
